The Instructional Design Project Manager works as part of the Education Development Team to design and develop eLearning and blended courseware and programs for industry learners.  Responsibilities include managing instructional projects and course development, revisions, maintenance, scheduling, and requirements; collaborating with program managers and course reviewers and managing vendors and subject matter experts to meet project deadlines and budgets; providing instructional design and scripting for the design, development, and production of digital and blended courses and materials; developing media elements according to established needs, aesthetics, and quality standards; assembling courseware media and publishing for online, mobile, facilitated, and/or self-study delivery, evaluating education content and delivery based on learning and industry trends and member needs; and loading, testing, troubleshooting and providing technical support for LMS courseware.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Follow defined program development processes to build and assemble all courseware media elements using a range of courseware and media development tools.
  • Provide instructional design documents detailing the learning objectives and instructional strategies for courses based on existing content and feedback from subject matter experts.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), external vendors, and NAED staff on content development and delivery that is relevant and valuable to our members.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while producing high quality results.
  • Adhere to project timelines, procedures, programs, and educational materials to meet online/eLearning/self-study training needs.
  • Incorporate necessary feedback and obtain approvals on course materials in a timely manner.
  • Continually review and revise existing courses to update content and technology.
  • Analyze learning needs and conceptualize effective, engaging learning solutions.
  • Evaluate feedback on NAED educational programs to ensure high quality and relevant resources are presented to members.
  • Upload newly created courses on LMS for testing and launch.
  • In collaboration with the Education team, communicate all course updates to Marketing & Member Engagement departments for external promotion.
  • Communicate project status on a regular basis to NAED team members and project partners.
  • Develop and manage relationships with NAED staff, members, course reviewers, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with other NAED departments including marketing, technology, and member engagement, as needed.
  • Complete all NAED Strategic Plan action items as assigned.
  • Review research and program surveys to discover the current learning and development needs of electrical distribution companies and the industry channel.
  • Stay abreast of technology advances in eLearning and performance management and recommend how these can be leveraged to increase value to our members.
  • Solicit feedback from NAED staff annually for individual growth and complete personal development plan outlining tasks and skills to improve.
  • Always present a professional image to members and vendors.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4-5 years of experience in eLearning training and development
  • Project and vendor management experience
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong creative and design skills
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with close attention to detail
  • Experience with instructional video design, including writing storyboards, scripts, role plays, and simulations
  • Expertise with Articulate Storyline and other content authoring tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Engage, Presenter
  • Experience writing and editing HTML
  • Experience with writing and editing written content desired
  • Prior experience with learning management systems preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience required, with emphasis in PowerPoint
  • Effective research, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and deliver/receive feedback in a team-oriented environment
